West Jordan had about 4,200 people in 1970 and more than 27,000 by 1980, and it has kept growing west toward the Oquirrhs ever since. Almost every decade since the 1970s built a large share of the city’s homes, so the door we find depends on which side of Bangerter you’re on.
East of Bangerter (1970s and 1980s). The neighborhoods near the Jordan River and Redwood Road are the oldest. Many doors still run on extension springs, the original tracks are bent or pulled from the jambs, and openers are well past their life. A system overhaul, often with a conversion to torsion springs, is the most common call here, and it gets a 40 year old door quiet and balanced for much less than a new door.
Central West Jordan (1990s and 2000s). Subdivisions like The Sycamores, Stone Creek, and Ivory’s Bloomfield communities are the biggest block of the city. These are builder grade steel doors on their second or third spring set, with original openers that lack battery backup and phone control. When one spring breaks, the other is close behind, so we replace them as a pair.
The west side (2000s to now). Jordan Hills, Oquirrh West and Terrace Hills by Holmes Homes, Garbett’s Aurora Heights, and the newer phases near Mountain View Corridor sit higher on the Oquirrh bench, where wind hits doors harder. A door that bows in a storm is stressing its rollers and top section, and we add horizontal struts to most steel doors in a single visit. The earlier phases are now in the seven to ten year window where builder springs rated for about 10,000 cycles start to fail.
Shops and RV pads. Some older lots on the east side have detached shops or RV bays with tall doors. Those use heavier springs, and we carry them.
